John Daly is the only reason I still consider golf a sport. I just have a soft spot for this guy. He's had so many things happen to him that I can't even list them all. For starters, he's been suspended from the PGA tour twice, he's been to rehab twice (that we know of,) and has had several failed marriages. His multiple outbursts on the course and reports of being publicly intoxicated make him a guy I'd have a beer with any day. Numerous times "Long John" Daly has been seen drinking at local bars after a tantrum on a hole that was giving him trouble. John doesn't hide his problems, and recently wrote a book about his private life. He has since cut the mullet in favor of a more clean cut image, (pun-intended) but still has redneck tendencies like gambling. Daly has admitted to losing "between 50 and 60 MILLION" dollars gambling. He started drinking at age nine. Maybe that wasn't such a bright idea, but I can't blame him. Beer is good. He once said "I might have a beer or two or three someday, but I don't think about it. I don't consider myself an alcoholic." Despite that, he dominated golf when he stayed focused and was an 11 time Long Drive Champion. He won the British Open in 1995. His life has been a roller coast of ups and downs since then, but all the while he keeps playing golf. John Daly, you are the man, and we all loved your mullet. Keep your head up, unless your in mid-swing, that is. Cheers!
